PAC Expands Maternal Health Outreach Services in Daynile and Kahda Districts
Mogadishu, Somalia — Physicians Across Continents (PAC), with funding support from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Human Services – Federal Government of Somalia and UNFPA Somalia, is scaling up health outreach activities to improve access to essential maternal healthcare services in Daynile and Kahda districts. The initiative targets displaced and vulnerable women and girls who often face significant barriers in accessing healthcare services. By delivering services directly within communities, the outreach program is helping to bridge critical gaps in maternal health service delivery. Through these activities, PAC provides a range of essential services, including antenatal and postnatal care, maternal health consultations, health education, and early detection and referral of pregnancy-related complications. The program aims to ensure safer pregnancies and improved health outcomes for both mothers and newborns. Health officials emphasized that bringing services closer to communities plays a key role in reducing delays in seeking care and increasing access to life-saving interventions, particularly among internally displaced populations. In addition to clinical services, the outreach efforts include health education sessions designed to raise awareness and empower women with knowledge on safe pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. The intervention reflects the strong collaboration between PAC, KSRelief, the Ministry of Health, and UNFPA Somalia in strengthening healthcare delivery systems and addressing urgent maternal health needs across Somalia. PAC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and ensuring that every woman has access to safe, dignified, and quality maternal healthcare. Every mother deserves safe and accessible care.
