Physicians Across Continents (PAC), in partnership with the Islamic Health Association of Malawi (IHAM), successfully conducted a Free Obstetric Fistula Repair Camp from September 9th to 13th, 2024, at Rev. John Chilembwe District Hospital in Phalombe. The camp provided vital, life-changing surgeries to women suffering from obstetric fistula, a debilitating childbirth condition that often leads to severe health issues and social isolation.
Thanks to the expertise of PAC’s medical team, numerous women were able to undergo free surgeries, helping restore their health, dignity, and ability to reintegrate into society. The initiative aimed not only to heal but also to bring hope to women who have faced years of hardship due to this condition.
A Major Step Toward Accessible Healthcare:
This camp is part of PAC’s ongoing mission to provide free medical services to underserved communities worldwide. The collaboration with IHAM and local health authorities ensured the camp’s success, making critical healthcare accessible to those in need. The event is a reminder of the importance of addressing neglected health issues and the transformative power of providing such care.
Future Initiatives:
The success of this camp has strengthened PAC’s resolve to continue its efforts in Malawi and beyond. Plans for future outreach programs and surgical camps are already in motion, with the goal of extending medical care to the most vulnerable populations.
