STATISTICS

Of the 20 countries with the highest maternal mortality ratios worldwide, 19 are in Africa; and the Region has the highest neonatal death rate in the world. Then there is the strain on African health systems imposed by the high burden of life-threatening communicable diseases coupled with increasing rates of noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease. Surgical intervention is the last option, but a necessary tool to save lives. PAC provides doctors, surgeons and healthcare professionals free of charge and covers the costs along with the after-care associated with surgeries. PAC trained surgeons cover various specialties so that they can carry out complex surgeries that are otherwise unavailable, due to the high cost or lack of expertise in that area. Alongside delivering the surgeries we train local staff, healthcare professionals thus access to high quality healthcare is still available in-between our visits. PAC aims to improve healthcare systems and to implement self-sufficiency through legacy projects. Access to Healthcare is a universal human right, unfortunately not all people have access.
