Take a look at some of our previous campaigns fighting for a better world.
Physician Across Continents is not only a humanitarian organisation, we campaign for access to better healthcare as a fundamental human right. We speak out and act upon what we have witnessed and push for lasting change. Having the marvel of the NHS in the UK, the organised healthcare systems and highly trained professionals. It humbles us to see what we have and what others do without, not everyone has access to free healthcare or any healthcare.
We are not soldier’s, a political party or a government our impartiality is scared to us and to offer access to healthcare regardless of race, colour, creed or politics is a cornerstone in who we are.
Our impartiality should not be mistaken for in action, we are witnesses and aim to provide compelling case to make to governments and non-state actors about the humanitarian consequences of their actions.
We advocate to governments, non-state armed groups, UN agencies and other influential actors to highlight the plight of populations in danger.
We believe the as the human race we are custodians of the environment and environmental concerns form part of all our work.
The natural world is an incredible wonder that inspires us all. It underpins our economy, our society, indeed our very existence. These natural assets are often called the world’s ‘natural capital’, from farming and forestry to leisure and tourism. If you add them all up, the total value of these benefits is phenomenal – at least US$125 trillion every year.
Because nature is free, we often take it for granted and overexploit it. we create huge social and economic costs for ourselves. At PACE (Physicians Across Continents Environment) we want to encourage communities to take up renewable energies, sustainable farming practices and importantly call on governments to their part for the environment.
Animal and human welfare are increasingly connected worldwide, through issues such as food quality and safety, public health, sustainable agriculture and the environment. Secure and safe food supplies depend on the quality of husbandry, veterinary care and nutrition that farm animals receive.
Without the farm animals a way of life is lost, a source of income lost, and this can spiral those farmers into deeper poverty. For the animal a quality way of life, humanly being treated is important to maintain its health and wellbeing. That’s why we campaign for better animal welfare, through education and action.
The Programmes Unit supports our medical, environmental and Animal welfare work and our teams on the front line through reflection, analysis, research and advocacy. The unit focuses on humanitarian, health, environmental policy and practice related issues.
The Programmes Unit researches issues that affect our patients, staff, beneficiaries and our relationships with other actors in the humanitarian world. The outcome of this research helps us lobby governments on issues that matter most to us and our patients.
It influences debates which, in turn, influence our policy and practice within Physicians Across Continents and to other actors involved in medical and humanitarian aid.
My Mosque Clinic seeks to address the health inequalities within Muslim and BME communities of the UK. We are introducing general health checkups at local masjids, improving access to healthcare and to raise awareness of health concerns affecting the community.
By bringing health facilities to the people they have an opportunity to participate in the health checks, workshops or lectures, making them more aware of their own health.
My Mosque Clinic enables local masjids to track the health of their community and raise awareness around specific health concerns that need to be addressed.
If you think your local mosque would benefit from this service then please do raise it with management and as we’re always looking to expand where we work.
Alternatively, if you’re a member of mosque management click the button to complete our registration form and we will be in touch.
